Following regional autonomy, a stakeholder analysis of the regional government, local communities and the private sector was conducted,

Natural resources planning and management practices were analyzed for the Regency,

An evaluation of TNC’s conservation and natural resources policies, programs and projects for Berau was conducted,

Conducted stakeholder meetings which were used to determine the willingness and readiness for ecotourism development,
-
A capacity building strategy for ecotourism development for local communities was proposed,
-
An Ecotourism Feasibility Report for Berau Regency was documented,
-
The opportunities and benefits of integrating ecotourism into TNC’s framework of conservation and sustainable development policies and programs were discussed.
