Millennium Challenge Account Indonesia - Off-Grid Community Owned Renewable Energy Project

East Sumba Micro Grids, East Nusa Tenggara Province, Indonesia

The objective of this project is to develop a Distributed Generation Solar PV System in East Sumba district, East Nusa Tenggara province. The project will establish a system of utility poles with Solar PV panels on top associated with battery houses linking to groups of four houses (‘tree and root’ approach), which involves significantly fewer land acquisitions than centralized micro-grid projects. This distributed generation approach means that only a very small area is associated with the batteries, and that only local environmental permits are required to install the infrastructure.

Enviro Pro has been assigned as the environmental consultant this project, to draft and implement the Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) and Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP). It includes the identified environmental and social risks of the project following IFC standards, risks analysis and risks mitigation plan, so on and so forth.
