2001 - 2003 Community Based Ecotourism Venture Development in Pulau Bintan, Indonesia

This project mainly involved the development of community-based ecotourism microenterprises for rural low-income families adjacent to the 23,000 ha Bintan Resorts. Enviro Pro led a multi-disciplinary team of specialists for the development of a comprehensive project implementation framework using a participatory approach: a detailed stakeholder analysis was conducted to facilitate a formal cooperation framework agreement between local communities, regional development and private sector tourism partners.

Based on the consultations, Enviro Pro designed and implemented micro-enterprise and tourism-capacity building programs. The consultant provided staff management of multidisciplinary team throughout the project period. As part of the capacity building programs, Enviro Pro also developed strategies and plans for sustainable resources usage on village level.
